Many of the reviewers say that this earlier version of Gaslight is
better than the remake four years later. But this one doesn't have
Ingrid Bergman, so it doesn't quite measure up, in my opinion. This
version comes as an "extra" on the recently released Gaslight DVD.
Man kills a rich old woman for her jewels, searches her house, but
doesn't find them. He later marries the old woman's niece, and moves
back into the same house. He attempts to drive his young wife mad
so that he can rummage the house for the jewels at his leisure.
However, a Scotland Yard detective takes an interest in the case,
and tries to figure out what's going on.
Included are English, French, and Spanish SRT subtitles.
