Based on real events, Dirty Hearts is a fiction film which tells the story of an immigrant whose
life was transformed by this intolerance: Takahashi (Tsuyoshi Ihara), owns a small photo shop and
married to a schoolteacher Miyuki (Takako Tokiwa .) Influenced by the nationalist doctrine that
dominated their colony - reflected in the leadership of Colonel Watanabe (Eiji Okuda), a former
officer of the Japanese army - Takahashi is slowly turning into a murderer. Soldier for a cause he
believes blindly and upon which to reflect not allowed. Meanwhile, his wife struggle in vain against
the tragic fate that lurks, trying to save the love in the midst of the growing spiral of
radicalism, manipulation and violence.
