PLOT
The story of high-life and intrigue amongst Britain's wealthy
sailing set continues in the boatyards, boardrooms and
bedrooms in Howards' Way Ssries Five. Glamorous schemer Laura
Wilde's arrival in Tarrant heralds a stormy ride for the
business empires of Tarrant; a fraud investigation threatens
to put Charles and Gerald behind bars; Jack struggles with
feelings of guilt and Jan finds more than just a business
partner.
EPISODE SUMMARY
Season 5, Episode 5:
Frere Holdings' shares decline in price and Charles is
concerned his father and the Hudson's might attempt a take
over bid. Laura warns Ken to keep personal matters out of
business. Meanwhile he is suspicious when Leisurecruise shares
are purchased by the bucket load by a mystery buyer. Leo is
jealous of Orin and when Abby reassures him there is nothing
to worry about Polly is not too pleased. Charles questions Tom
about the slow progress of his designs for Relton and Tom is
affronted by Charles' suggestion that it is because of his
feelings towards Avril. James is livid when Jan wants to use
some of his old designs. To make matters worse, she tries to
persuade him to assist their new designer Mark who is
struggling to find inspiration. Polly's attempts to reconcile
Abby and Orin go wrong. Laura questions Tom about his designs
for Frere Holdings and he warns he against Charles. He also
takes offence to her criticism of Avril. Over dinner with
Vanessa, Jack confesses his concerns about Avril and Charles;
he cannot believe Charles is behaving in such a way towards
his daughter, especially as he believes Charles is still in
love with her. Later, when Vanessa has left, Jack talks to
Avril about feeling guilty over his feelings towards Vanessa,
he thinks he is being unfaithful to the memory of his wife
Eileen. Polly tries to manipulate Gerald in to taking a job
with Edward, and when he refuses, he suggests that if she
wants to leave, he can do nothing to stop her. Laura tries to
get information about Frere Holdings from Gerald. Avril talks
with Tom after seeing Vanessa with a 'mystery man.' Unbeknown
to her, Jack overhears the conversation. Leo and Orin fight
over Abby and then saves him from drowning. Leo demands that
Abby make a final decision about their future.
