SPECiAL NOTES : After two months we can finally bring you these fine
rips. You all know the show, and many of you know
the very poor quality found on the PAL dvds. The PAL
dvds have blended fields, making any deinterlacer
produce very shitty ghosted frames. Along with the
blended fields, there's also an occasional edge
jitter, which just makes it look bad.
The NTSC dvds, sadly, still aren't perfect, but they
are fantastic in comparison. Almost all of the blended
fields are missing, which results in very clean frames
for the most part. There's still the occasional
ghosting, but it's hardly noticeable. The edge jitters
remain in a slightly lesser state. In fact, the first
season is almost as bad as the PAL, but the second
season is practically jitter free.
For comparison purposes, we've included two samples from
the original/popular rips, cut in the same places. The
first is shipped with 1.04, from the Saphire rls. The
other is in the second season, episode 14, FoV's rls.
Watching those should help you determine if you want to
leech these rips.
Originally we were just going to release season two, as
it actually looks decent on the dvds. Later we decided
that the first season deserves to go out if nothing
else, so we included it, even though the quality isn't
what we had hoped for.
We ended up spending the last few months deciding
exactly what we wanted to do, if we even wanted to
do these at all. After playing with some filters,
even trying to write our own (ugh, that sucked), we
decided that they needed to be done; the dvds were
too much of an improvement over the PALs not to be.
So here we present the results of our efforts, we know
you'll enjoy. Best.. show.. ever.
