Release Info

Ruffian 2 is a strong program from the Swedish programmer
Perola Valfridsson. Recently this program won the Dutch
open ahead of The King and Chess Tiger. Ruffian 2 is the
successor of the freely available free 1.0.5 version. This
version has a much higher playing strength which brings it
in the same league with engines as Deep Sjeng and Chess
Tiger.

The Ruffian engine is a fast program that reaches high
search depths very quickly, this makes it a tactically
strong engine. The engine has a lot of endgame knowledge
and can make use of endgame tablebases.

The Ruffian engine is UCI and winboard compatible, this
makes it possible not only to use the engine with
ChessPartner but also with other interfaces that are UCI or
winboard compatible. The package includes the latest
ChessPartner interface.

READ NFO Notes
VACE pred a rip with no NFO... I wonder why? Could it be that
this is due to the fact that Ruffian_2-VACE is the worst rip
in the history of VACE? I don't know but this is one fucking
sloppy rip. I don't even know where to start. First, it isnt
registered. Second, there is an error message every time you
start it, thrid you cant even use the ruffian engine in the
game, when you try to install it you get another error!!!!!!

Well here is what this fix is: You will no longer get error
when you try to start the game, you can now play with the
Ruffian engine. In order to register the program a serial
number is required... We thought for a long time about this
because we don't want to be viewed as serial/crack stealers
and we definately don't think of ourselves like this.

We finally decided to include the FLT nfo file in our release
because we decided that many people might not be able to get
this file themselves, but we give 100% credit to FLT for
their nfo. If you think including a nfo file is stealing the
serial number than I guess you can nuke us, but for those of
you who want to play the game, this is for you.

Note to VACE: You need to test your rips on more than one
computer, obviously if you just installed the
iso then the rip is going to work, but you need
to make sure that people without the ISO can
play also... Also please pre an nfo next time.
Install  Notes

Fix for the VACE rip.................
1. UnZiP Release...
2. UnRAR to the Game Dir
3. Run fixor.bat
4. Start game CP5.EXE, use FLT serial number or another to
register. IF you get error loading engine when game starts
1st time, ignore it, it will go away if you follow all
steps right.
5. Push F3 and select the Ruffian engine if it is there. If
it is not follow the next steps to install it:

Ruffian Engine Install Steps (if engine dont appear in list)

1. Start CP5.exe, Goto Extra -> Engine Import Wizard

2. Click Install

3. Select \engines\Ruffian2.0.2\Ruffian.exe, click next

4. When asked which name for the engine, select
Ruffian 2.0.2, click next, Click FINISH.

5. -Now click install AGAIN,
-Select \engines\Ruffian2.1.0\Ruffian.exe, click next
-Select Ruffian 2.1.0 from list, click next
-click finish

6. -Now click install ONE MORE TIME.
-Select \engines\Ruffian2.1.0\Ruffian.exe AGAIN,
-click next. Select Ruffian from the list, click next.
-click finish.

If you follow these steps correctly, then you will now be
able to select the Ruffian Engine by pressing F3 in the game
or go Extra -> Select Engine.

NOTE: you gonna need mfc42.dll in your system dir for this
game, probably everyone should have it, but for those
that dont, just telling you so you know what you need
if you getting errors due to this.
