READ NFO NOTES:
We worked quite a bit on this release and we decided to release it
even though Unleashed has already released their version.
Our two main reasons for making this release were:
* We don't like homemade installers nor do we like homemade ISOs
like the ones Unleashed made here. Unleashed claims that theirs
is "the only way" but we simply disagree. We offer you a
solution where the original file structure of the retail disk is
intact (except for the added HATRED folder of course). As a
result of this you will also go through the same installation
process as those who bought the retail disk.
* We found a way to play online! All you need is a Steam account
(which you can create for free and you don't even have to give
them a real email address).
We do recognize that the No-Steam version from Unleashed has some
qualities like for example you don't need to install Steam, you
don't need to create a Steam account, Steam can't watch you on
their satellite tracking device monitors (if you are paranoid).
Also if you live in an isolated cave in the mountains and have a
power generator but don't have internet, this won't stop you from
playing the Unleashed version with your cave-buddies.
Okay, no more sarcastic remarks. The truth is both releases have
their own qualities but we humbly estimate that the ability to
play online will be more important to most users than the ability
to play offline in a No-Steam environment.
We don't think that this should necessarily be considered a proper
of Unleasheds release. Their release is better if you are
fanatically against Steam or if you absolutely must be able to
install and play in an offline environment, in that case you are
better off with the release from Unleashed, but lets face the
facts: most gamers in 2007 have some sort of always-on
internet-connection and a Steam account is free and anonymous.
You must be connected to the internet and you should disable any
firewalls that may interfere with Steam.
* Unpack.
* Mount or burn.
* Start autorun or execute setup.exe from the root folder of the
ISO manually.
* Follow the standard installation process... First Steam will be
installed (install Steam on a drive where you have a lot of free
disk space, Steam will install lost-planet into a sub-directory
of the steam directory). After this Steam will start updating.
* Now Steam will ask you to "Create new account" or "Login to an
existing account". Just to be on the safe side, we advice you to
create a new account that you use solely for this release. We
aren't sure but it's not unlikely that Steam will eventually be
able to detect and ban those using this release and it would be
a darn shame if your original Steam account got banned because
of this.
* Continue the installation process until you are prompted for a
serial. Now before you proceed you need to do two things:
* Copy all the 8 files from the "\HATRED\Ncf_files\" directory to
the "\Steam\SteamApps\" directory.
* Start our memory patcher (memorypatcher.exe). Assuming that the
serial-prompt is currently showing you should see the message
"Steam.exe was patched!". You can safely exit
"memorypatcher.exe" after witnessing this message.
Now you can proceed.
Please enter "******************************" and hit "Next >".
You should now receive the following message:
You already have active subscriptions to the game(s) associated
with this product code.
You don't need to re-enter your product code, you simply need to
log into this Steam account to access your games.
Hit "OK".
* Proceed like normal and you should soon see the screen
"Installing from disk...". Once completed, hit "Finish". (Notice
that you wont see "Lost Planet: Extreme Condition" in the Steam
"My Games" list afterwards).
Now you are almost done, just two things left.
* Since you can't update Lost Planet: Extreme Condition via the
Steam client you need to manually copy the updated files. So
copy all the files from the "\HATRED\Updated_files\" directory
to the "\Steam\SteamApps\common\Lost Planet Extreme Condition\"
directory.
* Now finally copy the only file that was actually modified, that
is "Steam.dll" from the "\HATRED\" directory to the
"\Steam\SteamApps\common\Lost Planet Extreme Condition\"
directory.
Now you are ready to play! To start "Lost Planet: Extreme
Condition" just execute either LostPlanetDx9.exe (DirectX 9) or
LostPlanetDx10.exe (DirectX 10/Vista). Notice that Steam must be
running (that black icon in tray) in order for the game to start
successfully.
PLAYING ONLINE:
We made several tests and we have successfully been able to play
online with these newly created empty Steam accounts. If you are
using our release and followed the installation procedure
described above you should also be able to play "Lost Planet:
Extreme Condition" via Steam.
We have mainly been testing "Quick Match (Internet)", we still
haven't fully grasped the logic behind this online gaming system,
it seems to be quite hard to join a game and you will frequently
receive messages like:
"Searching... ( 0/16)"
"No matches found."
"The match has been cancelled."
Don't be fooled, this is not caused by a flaw in our crack, we
have tested intensively with both a legit Steam account and a
false one and they both suffer from this problem. In our
experience you need a little patience before you find a game that
you can successfully join.
DISCLAIMER:
* This may stop working at any time if Steam introduces preventive
changes in their client or their gaming-protocols.
* You will rely on us (or other DOX groups hey, free
competition) for updated files when Steam/Valve/Capcom releases
updates for the game since our solution doesn't allow you to
update the game via the Steam client like authorized users do.
* Create a new user as you may get banned or worse.
HATRED does not condone in selling warez of any kind.
HATRED does not respect any p2p networks, NFOrce or
anything to make the scene more public.
HATRED does not believe in using a lesser protected
executables whether it be a steam exe, unprot exe,
demo exe, activemark exe, direct2drive exe or any
other weaker protected exe to make a cheap copy/paste
code exe and then label it as a crack. Nor do we
believe in any other sorts of cheap workarounds.
