Our rip of Deus Ex had a small, but annoying problem.
Symptom: Messages in the HUDInfo-Textbox wouldn't go away - you always
had the first message on screen.
Cause: Because we had to rip the speech, the game wouldn't find the
speech audio-files. The game-engine sets a timer waiting
for the successful completion of playing the speech audio-file
and would then set a flag to remove the message. As in the
rip that timer would never terminate (the game doesn't check
for unsuccessful loading of speech-files), the flag to remove
the message would also never be set. Some other flags in the
game seem to depend on that as well, causing other problems.
Fix: We had to replace every single speech file (inside the speech
libraries), while keeping the object data intact. So you get
now 175 MB of mute speechfiles.
Contrary to what many lamers believe, rips can only be as bugfree
as the original games. We won't and cannot possibly fix gamebugs
like incompatibilities with certain video cards and their drivers
and other critical hardware. To find solutions for problems with

Unzip, then unace the deus-fix.ace into your gamedir (the *.u files
must be in the System\ dir then). Play as usual.
