oOo Release Notes oOo
The name's Lewton. I'm a private investigator. I don't know where the idea
came from, I was just thinking one night that it would be really cool to
have an office with my name on the door and a sturdy desk for sexy broads
to lean across. Trouble is, wherever there are sexy broads there's
trouble, and the dame i'm working for wrote the book on trouble, and the
sequel too. Her name's Carlotta, and between her, the psychotic dwarf
who's following me and this walking moutain with the brain of a
pomegranate who calls himself Malachite, I'm beginning to wonder if the
Discworld's first private investigator might be about to become the
Discworld's last private investigator too.
Features:
* Walk the mean streets of Ankh-Morpork in this latest addition to the
hugely successful Discworld saga.
* You are in control the action in this new and original story, created
under the guidance of Terry Pratchett.
* Talk to almost seventy different characters - including old favourites
like Corporal Nobbs, Death and the Grim Squeaker - using a new and
innovative conversation system that puts you in charge of the
investigations.
* Visit over seventy different locations, all rendered in stunning 3D, as
you attempt to solve murders, reveal conspiracies and attempt to uncover
the truth - before it's too late!
Ripped:
The game comes on 3 CD's and was a bitch to rip, but we've managed to rip
it into a decent size without removing any essential datas. So, what was
ripped? DirectX, foreign languages datas, speech (300 MB), music (60 MB)
and most movies - but we've left all movies needed to play the game.
U can expect a MUSIC addon and a MOVIES addon. We don't know yet if we
will release SPEECH or not...
Enjoy this great release and expect much more from WARRIOR soon...
oOo Install Notes oOo
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE STARTING THE GAME !!!
Unzip the zips, then Unrar the rars in the dir of your choice (i.e.:
C:\DISCNOIR). Go to the dir where u have installed the game and double-
click on DISCNOIR.REG to update the registry.
IMPORTANT NOTE : 1) If u don't install the game in the default directory
(C:\DISCNOIR), u'll need to edit DISCNOIR.REG and modify
the 3 lines 'HD Path', 'Install Path' and 'Sample Path'
according to the dir where the game is.
2) BEFORE LAUNCHING THE GAME, U MUST CREATE A DIR NAMED
'CD1' IN THE ROOT OF THE DRIVE WHERE THE GAME IS
INSTALLED (i.e.: C:\CD1). This is essential or the game
won't run at all !!!
3) UNLESS U HAVE THE ADDONS, DO NOT CHANGE THE SETTINGS
OR THE GAME WILL CRASH !!!
To modify the settings or load a previously saved game,
DO NOT SELECT 'OPTIONS' or 'RESUME GAME' from the main
menu, but hit F1 instead and select your option.
To start the game, click on TIN3_DXD.EXE.
That's it...Enjoy :)
oOo Hints oOo
* In General, ESC will allow you to skip any animated sequences in the
game, or to advance through the conversation you are having with a
character. After the introduction (whether you watch it or not), the game
will start. If you wish to load a previous game, press F1 to call up the
Options menu.
* If you are stuck, it is worth checking that you have found all the tags
in the room you can get to. A good habit to get into is 'sweeping' any new
room you visit for tags. It is also worth remembering that some tags may
change with time - it is up to you to decide which tags are likely to
change.
* There is a big difference between looking at a tag and interacting with
it. For example, if you see some soot in a chimney, looking at it (= right
click) will cause Lewton to examine it closely. Interacting with it
(= double click) might cause Lewton to take some of the soot, or to try
and clean it from the chimney.
* If you are too impatient to wait for Lewton to walk to an exit, you can
double click on the exit tag (a yellow arrow) and the scene will
immediately cut to the next location.
* Clues are the key to completing the game. Whenever you get a new clue,
you should think about how that clue impacts on what you already know, and
who you can usefully talk to about that clue. Also, just because you've
talked to someone about a particular clue doesn't mean you shouldn't talk
to them again, if something else sheds new light on the situation.
* Lewton can link clues to tags and objects as well. All you need to do is
'hold' the clue and double click on the appropriate tag or object.
* To 'drop' a clue you no longer need, you can right click. This will only
work if there are no inventory windows open and you do not have a tag
selected on screen. Alternatively, you can double click on Lewton or the
notebook to get rid of the currently 'held' clue.
* The topics available in the conversation window depend on what Lewton
has examined or looked at, what the character knows, what Lewton has
already spoken to the character about and what is happening in the city.
It is often worth having a look around the character's location before
talking to them, as this can open up new conversation topics.
oOo Group News oOo
Eh wait a second? WARRIOR? Is this the same group that used to release
games and addons 2 or 3 years ago? I thought they were dead?
Well, right...at least, more or less. Let's just say we were still there
but had no more time and/or opportunities to release stuff. But here we
are again and we're here to last :)
So here we are again in 2000 with one goal in mind : bring u all the
games that weren't ripped for several reasons (mainly because of the size
limit) or were raped and unplayable...and even some that no one seems to
have anymore.
We hope u will enjoy our games...remember, warez means fun :)
