General Comments
We entered 2006 with new hopes, new mortgages and for some of us, a nice
hangover.
The hangover was bad and the current status of our fine hobby made it
worse.
It seems like some groups just don't give a flying fuck about a very old
tradition and that is: YOU DON'T USE OTHER GROUPS CRACKS.
For someone outside this intriguing little hobby of ours might laugh at
the fact that (1).The Scene has Rules
(2).The Scene has Ethics
Let me tell you one thing: If we do not follow the rules, chaos will
follow. With chaos comes destruction. With destruction comes the end of
this wonderful hobby of ours. We NEED the rules. The situation isn't
like back in the early 80's, this is 2006.
DVN has released games since 1997 and during the years we have had
several games ready for release but no crack. So what do you do? Do you
simply take some other groups' crack, without permission, and release it
anyways?
Several times we haven't been able to rip a game down to the limit of
the rules, do you then release it under the impression that its not OUR
fault, its the rules fault?
Of course not, you accept the situation like any MATURE person and works
on improving the status of your group. If you wish to improve the
current status of the scene do it by legit actions and not by releasing
stolen/oversized material. You really think Anyone wants to have a
sit-down and talk Rules with someone who clearly in the end wont give a
flying fuck about them? DVN sure as hell wont.
You couldn't crack the game yourself? You couldn't rip it down to a
legit size because of the stupid rules? Tough luck. Accept the loss and
move on. Be mature enough to handle the loss instead of releasing
something under the impression that you are bringing some quality into
the scene. You are not. You are bit by bit destroying it. The rules are
set to protect us. Sure, they need to be updated now and then but that
is something one discusses with other parties. What you DON'T do is grab
someone else hard work and simply adds, "Thanks for the crack". Remember
the old saying: Honour among thieves? It exists, no matter what anyone
thinks. And without it we are absolutely NOTHING!
What about DVDRIPS? Can we find any double moral here?
The same group complaining about the current SRR rules decides to
release a DVDRIP with a stolen crack. Now, what in the SRR rules
prevented you from releasing a 100% legit release?
Oh, the crack issues.
"Well, none else has released it!"
So fucking what? Could there be a reason why it isn't out? Could it be
that some groups has families and obligations and thus making this
wonderful hobby come in 2nd place?
God damit people, what is wrong with you? Clearly you have the time &
patience (not that this is to compare with brain surgery...) so why not
make something GOOD of it instead or ending up with one nuked reason
over the other. And IF you still feel you want to release that
oversized-stolen-crack-game, release it under the INTERNAL label. That
would show that you at least have SOME respect towards the hardworking
people who each day tries to stay by the rules.
I'm not saying DVN is perfect, we sure as hell have our bad days. But we
stick to the rules.
Why do we stick to the rules? Because the rules is what keeps us
together. It defines our work and us. Its something we can be proud of
when having our "DVN SUMMER BBQ's" & "Winter Parties".
So, how about joining the party instead of standing on the other side of
the fence? Lets make 2006 a year we can look back at and remember with
joy instead of useless bashing. Lets put some good old quality back into
the game, we all win on it.
Anyhow, I've written enough. I wish ALL groups (nomatter what) a Good
2006. Lets have fun!
Myself, I'm going out to freeze my ass off out in the snow sine some
dwarfs havent yet discovered the fantastic joy of computer/console
games.
