-+ Rip Notes +-
Today we bring you 2 cuts of the same film.
Dungeonmaster (the US cut) and its renamed
counterpart Ragewar (the UK cut).
If you like bad but good movies this is a
must see. The main character has to perform
for the devil in a number of 'challenges.' Each
of the challenge segments were written and
directed by different people (though you'll have
a hard time seeing any major difference in style.)
One of these segments has an amusing 80's metal band
by the name of W.A.S.P. playing while our character
searches for his girl. Gotta love it :D
As for the difference in the cuts: The UK copy,
Ragewar (1984 EIV release) on VHS only, has a 4+
minute dream sequence (with some fun nudity) before
the intro credits that was commpletely cut from the
US copy, Dungeonmaster (1985 Lightning Video release)
of which we provided the Laserdisc release. The US
copy tho has a longer and more descript speech given
by Satan about a childhood memory of torturing a cat
(satan had a childhood? lol). The UK cut removes all
but Satan's first line about the event.
Both copies run about 73-74 minutes with the
UK copy actually coming in a bit shorter in runtime.
This seems to say there are actually other cuts that
we missed seeing as with a 4 minute dream sequence
you'd expect the UK copy to be noticeably longer.
If you spot any cuts we missed we'd love to hear
about'm.
Enjoy another movie not given the DVD love it
deserves.. brought to you in 2 different cuts.
P.S: As we'll continue to do when its worth it,
we've provided the fun covers to both
Ragewar and Dungeonmaster for your viewing
pleasure.
