M O V i E   S U M M A R Y

The lives of a group of female Tokyo teens are fully explored in this
emotional feature from director Hideaki Anno. Outwardly the girls appear
be normal teenagers, obsessing over clothes and boys. However, when
night falls the girls lives transform completely as they offer them-
selves to older men via phone booths and street corners. With no family
life to speak of, and a school system that doesn't interest them, the
girls feed their daytime passions with the money they make on the
streets at nighttime. It all adds up to a startling expose of contempor-
ary life in Tokyo, with exemplary performances from the young cast, and
some stunning scenes shot on an ultra-low budget by the crew.

N O T E S

This is the first live-action film by Director Anno, much better known
for his work on the anime His And Her Circumstances, Nadia, and one of
the greatest of all, Neon Genesis Evengelion.

Included as an extra is the promotional music video for Love And Pop.

This movie was made using miniature Sony video cameras. Therefore it's
interlaced 29.97fps. It's a "widescreen" 4:3 DVD, meaning, among other
things, that the resolution is lacking. In addition, it's mostly 1.33:1
within a widescreen frame. To better explain what I mean, there are 3
different vobsamples included. While maybe 95% of the film is 1.33:1,
the director has experimented with AR, sometimes placing the "fullscreen"
picture on the left or right side of the wide frame, sometimes expanding
out to widescreen, sometimes squeezing or squashing the Aspect Ratio.
Similar things were done with the audio. In my opinion, it's quite re-
markable what he has accomplished with this film.
