Set in Haiti during the days surrounding the death of dictator
Fran ois "Papa Doc" Duvalier and the anointment of his son Baby
Doc in April of 1971, the film centres on Fanfan, a naive and
bookish 15-year-old whose eyes are opened to the pleasures and
dangers in the world around him. Fuelled by raging hormones and
the words of Haitian surrealist poet Clement Magloire-Saint-Aude,
he fixates on the four beauties in short-shorts who live next
door, particularly the quick-witted Miki. Unfortunately, for
Fanfan to get close to them entails dangerous encounters with
their Tonton Macoute boyfriends, thuggish men who grow even
more brutal amid the climate of political uncertainty...
