PLOT SUMMARY
The film addresses China's illegal slavery trade, an abhorrent
practice in which women are abducted and sold. Actress Huang Lu
makes a remarkable debut portraying a young woman whose life turns
into a living nightmare when she is abducted to a mountain village
and forced into marriage with a stranger. Set in northern China,
Blind Mountain makes a strong statement against backward traditions
and mindsets, with the protagonist's fight for freedom providing a
poignant portrait of strength and determination amidst the futility.
The documentary-style presentation and Lin Jong's outstanding
cinematography make the film especially realistic, highlighting
the fact that while this story may be fictional, it is reflective
of very real tragedies that occur in China.
