Accomplished Golden Globe winning actress
Ann Jillian stars as herself in this powerful
fact-based drama about her success as a
Broadway performer, her romance and marriage
to Andy Murcia and her inspiring triumph over
breast cancer. She has become a symbol of hope
and inspiration to cancer victims and their
families all over the world.
-+ Rip Notes +-
Anyone who remembers the early 80s sitcom
It's A Living is bound to also remember its
blond hottie star Cassie Cranston, played by
Ann Jillian. If you do, you might also wonder
what ever happened to her, and why she was
suddenly written out of the show halfway
through its run(s), despite her popularity.
In this made-for-TV movie you learn why, in
which she tells her own story of how she got
breast cancer, and underwent a double
mastectomy. After getting her own sitcom in
1989 (which only lasted a season), and playing
in various forgotten TV movies of the 90s,
she seems to have given up acting in 2000
after guest starring in an episode of Walker,
Texas Ranger. She allowed herself to be
defined by her cancer, and today works as
a motivational speaker, teaching women across
America to connect with their inner...
something. Her website indicates she is still
open to acting engagements, but not having
worked for ten years, a comeback seems unlikely.
Believed by many to be unavailable on DVD,
we managed to find an official German copy
where the publisher had been kind enough to
include the original soundtrack, although the
title screen is still in German. Unfortunately
the transfer is subpar to say the least, we've
cleaned this up quite a bit, so you can imagine
what it looked like when we got it.
Enjoy!
ps. Alternatively there is a copy of this
available via iTunes and Amazon video
on demand services if you can live with
paying for a copy with DRM that restricts
use and has few ideal workarounds.
-+ Who We Are +-
Since 2003, FLAiR has been dedicated to pres-
erving the neglected titles of an entertainment
era long gone. A time of classic kids flicks,
painstaking hand-drawn animation and countless
cheesy low-budget horrors. A time when pop had
a King, and rock had a Queen. A time when special
FX wizards ruled, and CGI was just one of their
many tools.
Driven by nostalgia and memories of better
days, we seek to relive those times, and share
those memories. While our belief is that the
80s represent the very pinnacle of pop culture,
we will not limit ourselves to one decade, or
any single genre. We will not ignore the movies
considered insignificant or even embarrassing by
the studios. We will not disregard a timepiece
just because it is dated.
Whereas most groups rely solely on digital
sources, there are still thousands of rare and
out of print titles, many of which have no
planned digital release. We've made it our
mission to dig these out, clean them up using
the best hardware and techniques available to
us, and share them with the world. Be it VHS,
Laserdisc or more exotic formats, we're here
to bring you the best (and worst!) of decades
past. So sit back and enjoy as we uncover and
pay tribute to an age of cinema we will never
get back.
