mkv plays on pc and any other device that play mkv.
standalone compatibility list (full/movie only) at
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=144674
To easily convert the mkv to BD grab PopBD available at
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=145482
- drag and drop, open with, send to, or drag the mkv to
the file icon.
- choose whether to image, burn or just mux
- you can also split into 2 discs if you like to burn
for instance a BD9 to 2 DVD5's
If you want to add a menu check out multiAVCHD at
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143744
Another alternative is using TSMuxeR from
http://www.smlabs.net/tsmuxer_en.html
Once the full backup compatibility list grows we
plan on doing releases with original menus and extras
released as an iso file to fit on BD5 or BD9. Also you
would be able to play an m2ts thats inside the iso just
like you play mkv files now. In order to play on a BD
player that plays movie only you would have to convert
the m2ts with one of the tools mentioned above. 720p
and 1080p are currently possible. A question to you,
should the scene be releasing full backups for BD5/9
now or should we all wait for more player support?
