READNFO : Hello fellow music bluray addicts,
Yes, we lost, yes, we know, but hell, we want to tell a story.
Since the beginning of the "mbluray scene" all groups follow(ed) the x264 rules,
which are already long overdue, but that's another discussion. With that, and with
no clear rules on tagging, it starts to get a big mess with the mbluray releases.
Members of FKKHD, DEV0, LIQUID, LOUNGE and TREBLE spoke and we agreed that something
needs to change. We decided not to rewrite the rules, or even write new rules, so
hopefully this will just create some "simplicity"
What NOT to do/use in the dirname:
- Using streetdate year only
Take this release for example:
Gaming.in.Symphony.2019.1080p.MBLURAY.x264-MBLURAYFANS
Yes, it's released in 2019 (https://www.euroarts.com/labels/6770-gaming-symphony-danish-national-symphony-orchestra),
but it's a concert from august 2018. It makes no sense at all to tag it only 2019.
If an Elvis Presley bluray comes out in 2019 it's just stupid to tag it
2019 because it has streetdate year 2019. Always use/add the original concertyear!
Only two options are right here:
Gaming.in.Symphony.2018.1080p. (concert year)
Gaming.in.Symphony.2018.2019.1080p. (concert year + streetdate year)
- Using DOCU tag isn't making it a MBluRay (should tag BluRay)!
Take this release for example:
Joni.Mitchell.Both.Sides.Now.Live.At.The.Isle.Of.Wight.Festival.1970.DOCU.1080p.MBluRay.x264-TREBLE
Yep, we fucked up aswell, while it's a combined concert/docu thing. It has a listing on imdb,
and with DOCU added you scream that it's a documentary. So when using the DOCU tag, drop the M
in MBluRay.
- Special Characters!
Take this release for example:
Journey.-.Escape.and.Frontiers.Live.in.Japan.2017.2019.1080p.MBLURAY.x264-MBLURAYFANS
There's not any "video" material scene which uses .-. or has ever used this. It's not a
helpfull or in any way usefull addition.
What to do with AUDIO streams:
- More is better!
While x264 rules tell us to use 1 audio streams in a release only, for years mbluray groups
have added more streams in their releases. For fraks sake, it's about audio and a bit about video,
why don't put both or even more of them on a release.
When available on source, always use DTS (5.1 or 2.0), but RAW/PCM streams are usually from
a higher quality so use those aswell to make an extra FLAC stream!
Rippers choice in our opinion, it's not like it's hours of extra effort.
- Foreign audio still needs to follow x264 rules
Luckily for the scene, there aren't a lot of foreign concerts around. But it makes
no sense to pre them according to german/french/dutch/spanish whatever scene rules.
It's still just a mbluray release, and should follow x264 rules.
Greetings to/from all mbluray groups around.
Over and out!
