Skin Deep is a psychological thriller about love, sex, race, and
betrayal involving an interracial couple, a black couple, and a
mistress. The two men (Anthony and Michael) are successful in the high
tech world of Silicon Valley, and have known each other since childhood.
The story takes place over the course of a day, when the couples get
together for an afternoon of dining, drinking, and hot tubbing. Later,
one of the wives is found dead in the hot tub, setting off a series of
events that reveal their inner beliefs. Things turn dark as racism,
paranoia, and the mistress come into play. This results in more deaths,
until the ultimate realization that your thoughts and actions are more
important than the color of your skin.
Directed by Sacha Parisot

Shaw, A.J. Johnson, Jon Read

This one went through many conversions to get from the original film
stock to DVD. My best guess is original FILM -> Blended to PAL ->
Interlaced to NTSC DVD. The way it was blended was quite possibly the
worst way I and many others who checked the source have seen. It has a
blended frame approximately every 6th frame, however the phase shifts so
so often, at times theres 2 different blended frames consecutively. I
tried about 20 different 'automatic' methods to get it back down to 25
and didn't get good results because everyone chose a 'near dupe' rather
than the blended frame. Then tried manual IVTC with SelectEvery which
worked well but it took me over 3 hours to setup a script for a 10 sec.
clip because of the many different patterns. After going through that
tedious task and looking closely at other parts of the movie I decided
to leave it at 30FPS rather than spend the next few months setting up a
script to handle it. Shame there isn't an 'automatic' way to handle this
A VOB sample is included to give you more of an idea of what the source
like. So nukers its up to you but I really don't think anyone would want
to take on the task of getting this back down to 25FPS without a bunch
of missing frames and there is no other alternative source available
that I could find on the internet. The second audio is the cast
commentary which is a good laugh. Enjoy
