PLOT
A group of nudists who are dedicated to their
"in the buff" lifestyle, are forced to close their
camp by local religious fanatics. Rather than succumb
to the churchgoers' pressure, the nudists commit a
ritualistic mass-suicide, but not before vowing to
avenge their fate upon the holy-rollers.
After the camp closure, the former "skin zone" is
converted into a religious retreat area for not-so
religious teenagers. When the retreaters and their
counselors pay a visit, the scantilly-clad zombies
seek their revenge and their victims being "meeting
their maker" in less-than typical fashion.
This campy, comedy-horror film is filled with lively,
upbeat musical score that is right out of "Little Shop
of Horrors" and Michael Jackson's "Thriller". The non-
stop spoofs, frights and laughs make it a whole
NUDIST COLONY full of FUN!
RIP NOTES
Oh boy do we have a winner for you here. With a
title like Nudist Colony of the Dead you already
know you're in for greatness but you'd be mistaken
if you were expecting nudity to be the key ingredient.
No, you see, the greatness of this otherwise amateur
production is in the brilliant incorporation of
musical numbers. Yes, Nudist Colony of the Dead
actually takes the form of a horror musical comedy
mash up. With a master's touch the musical element
only begins to reveal itself at the 7 minute mark
when we're treated to the opening title and what
might be the best song in the movie, and perhaps one
of the best in all of 80s trash cinema title song
history. Still though, it's another 10 minutes before
the true face of this movie is evident as a naughty
but dim-witted group of teenagers break into song on
the way to their church sponsored camping trip. It's
at this point that you realize you've got something
special on your hands and that all thats left to do
is to enjoy the ride.
But wait that's not all. As you can see this is
tagged as UNCUT. The reason being that the 2007
wide screen DVD released by the director was
unfortunately not only an attempt at remastering
but an attempt at reediting as well. The result is
a butchered edit that includes videotaped footage
not present in the original as well as scenes from
the original that are missing. It's safe to say that
while the full screen VHS source is far from perfect
it is however the preferred and more authentic
version of this film and is worth seeing before
indulging the director's revisions on the DVD. Now
get to watching it already, we guarantee it will
entertain.
