-+ Release Information +-
A spoofish, gore story about a mild-mannered
editor, Edward Svensson, who undergoes a
mysterious, desensitizing transformation when
his boss removes him from cutting one of his
usually sedate films (a typical "Euro arthouse"
pic) and reassigns him to edit a series of
schlockish, splatter flicks. Stuck behind a
movieola in his boss' summer cottage, endlessly
witnessing mutilations and violations of the
worst order, the formerly artistic professional
devolves into "Evil Ed," a wicked, maniacal
killer.
-+ Rip Notes +-
A Swedish horror comedy with a shoe string
budget, Evil Ed took 5 years to complete,
starting out as a short film project, and is
the only one Anders Jacobsson directed before
turning his interests to his gothic doom metal
band Draconian. With spectacular results this
is almost a Nordic answer to Bad Taste.
We were just looking to grab another group's
rip of this only to find it had been pred some
time ago by an obscure and short-lived Swedish
group making it rather difficult to track down.
We then grabbed an R1 copy to provide a much
needed internal but to our dismay found it to
be littered with blended frames and the distinct
features of a bad conversion. Luckily we got
our hands on this much nicer R2 copy and it's
guaranteed to entertain.
ps. You may notice all the other pres of this
have been tagged 1997. It was actually
first released in 1995 at the Stockholm
International Film Festival which IMDB
now acknowledges as the correct year.
-+ Who We Are +-
Since 2003, FLAiR has been dedicated to pres-
erving the neglected titles of an entertainment
era long gone. A time of classic kids flicks,
painstaking hand-drawn animation and countless
cheesy low-budget horrors. A time when pop had
a King, and rock had a Queen. A time when special
FX wizards ruled, and CGI was just one of their
many tools.
Driven by nostalgia and memories of better
days, we seek to relive those times, and share
those memories. While our belief is that the
80s represent the very pinnacle of pop culture,
we will not limit ourselves to one decade, or
any single genre. We will not ignore the movies
considered insignificant or even embarrassing by
the studios. We will not disregard a timepiece
just because it is dated.
Whereas most groups rely solely on digital
sources, there are still thousands of rare and
out of print titles, many of which have no
planned digital release. We've made it our
mission to dig these out, clean them up using
the best hardware and techniques available to
us, and share them with the world. Be it VHS,
Laserdisc or more exotic formats, we're here
to bring you the best (and worst!) of decades
past. So sit back and enjoy as we uncover and
pay tribute to an age of cinema we will never
get back.
