Plot Outline  : Seibei Iguchi is a low-ranking samurai and widower.
With two young daughters and an aging mother to support
he and his family must survive in austerity.  The
moment his daily work is over, he hurries home,
refusing to drink or eat with fellow samurai, and
concentrates on housework and moonlighting.  Behind
his back, the other samurai teasingly call him
"Twilight Samurai".
One day Seibei meets Tomonojo Iinuma, a childhood
friend and hears about Tomoe, Tomonojo's sister, who
has just divorced her husband, and moved in with
Tomonojo.  The next day Tomoe and Seibei meet but as he
is walking her home they encounter her husband who is
furiously determined to take her back, and challenges
Seibei to a duel.

Ripper's Notes:

Though not filled with wild swordplay or bloody effects this is a
wonderful samurai movie.  The lead, Hiroyuki Sanada, may be familiar
if you saw The Last Samurai.  He played Ujio, the lucky fellow that
beat the hell out of Tom Cruise with the wooden sword.  Too bad it
was only a movie.
