[vV] This movie is a great comedy of the genius Buster Keaton. The video    [vV]
[vV] isn't perfect due to the original master, as usual in this old movies. [vV]
[vV] The audio track is recorded in Stereo, so it was  normalized and       [vV]
[vV] compressed at VBR qlty=2 with Lame 3.88. Video was deinterlaced and    [vV]
[vV] compressed with VKI-MM4 technics.                                      [vV]

[vV]       Johnnie Gray has two loves in his life: his engine and his girl  [vV]
[vV]    Annabelle Lee. The War Between the States begins with an attack on  [vV]
[vV]    Fort Sumter,  and Johnnie is the first in line  at the recruitment  [vV]
[vV]    office. But the enlisting officer rejects him (not telling him the  [vV]
[vV]    reason: he is more valuable to the South as an engineer).           [vV]
[vV]    Annabelle believes  he didn't even try to enlist,  and she refuses  [vV]
[vV]    to even speak to him until he is in uniform. Time passes and Union  [vV]
[vV]    spies hatch  a plot involving  Johnnie's engine,  The General. Not  [vV]
[vV]    only do they steal  The General  while Johnnie  and the passengers  [vV]
[vV]    are off the train having dinner, but they kidnap Annabelle who was  [vV]
[vV]    still on board. Johnnie pursues The General in another engine, The  [vV]
[vV]    Texas.  Through  various  mishaps he becomes  the  Unionists' sole  [vV]
[vV]    pursuer.  When the  Unionists discover the train  chasing them has  [vV]
[vV]    only one man aboard,  the long  pursuit ends,  and Johnnie  barely  [vV]
[vV]    escapes  with his  life.  Johnnie is now  behind  enemy lines.  He  [vV]
[vV]    wanders  the forest  during a  rainstorm then  discovers  a house,  [vV]
[vV]    which he breaks into,  grabbing what food he can. It turns out the  [vV]
[vV]    Unionists who stole  The General  are using the house as a base of  [vV]
[vV]    operations.  While hiding under the  dinner table,  Johnnie learns  [vV]
[vV]    the details  of their  next  plot against  the Confederates.  More  [vV]
[vV]    importantly,  he discovers  they have  Annabelle Lee,  whom he had  [vV]
[vV]    never guessed was still on The General when it was taken.  Johnnie  [vV]
[vV]    manages to escape with  Annabelle and take back  The General.  Now  [vV]
[vV]    the Unionists  are pursuing Johnnie,  but if he and  Annabelle can  [vV]
[vV]    outrace them they can warn the Confederates of the  Union's latest  [vV]
[vV]    plan.                                                               [vV]
