1896, Montmartre: the Can-Can, the dance in which the
women lift their skirts, is forbidden. Nevertheless
Simone has it performed every day in her night club. Her
employees use their female charm to let the
representatives of law enforcement look the other way -
or even attend the shows. But then the young ambitious
judge Philippe Forrestier decides to bring this to an
end. Will Simone manage to twist him round her little
finger, too? Her boyfriend Francois certainly doesn't
like to watch her trying.

There are 3 notes. The first note is that at the
beginning of the movie before the 20th Century Fox Logo
there was an overture. We decided that this did not make
sense to leave in the release. This is because the screen
is blank for roughly 4 minutes and 35 seconds. We are
including this overture in the sample directory
for anyone interested in it.
The second note is that of the AR that we chose. Many sites
list the AR for this dvd as 2.20:1. However, analysis of the
dvd and through the aid of some samples with different ARs,
we determined that the actual AR is closer to 2.15:1 than
the posted AR. That is why the resolution we chose was
624x288 which is 2.16.
The third note is that on the second cd near the beginning
there is an intermission. The intermission screen is
proceeded with about 3 minutes of music with black video.
After this intermission time the movie resums. This is how
it was on the dvd
