Plot:
When the girl he intends to marry dies, a young man has to face up to a whole new future.
With the help of a friend and the nature surrounding him, he recovers slowly and decides to
give up his previous way of life. He assumes another name, Pallieter, and decides to take
from nature what it has to offer. With his own happiness complete, after marrying a country
girl, things take a turn for the worst. Based on the work of Felix Timmermans.
