Mixing samba, jazz and sophisticated lyricism, the
sultry bossa nova sound was spawned in the beaches
and bars of Rio, Brazil in the late 50s, but
quickly seduced the world when musical legends'
Tom Jobim, Joao Gilberto and Astrud Gilberto made
songs like The Girl from Impanema huge
international hits. This evocative documentary,
filmed largely on location in Rio, traces the
legacy of the seductive bossa nova sound through
interviews with the key players from the era
including Sergio Mendes, Marcos Valle (Summer of
Samba), Carlos Lyra, and features rare live clips
of the sublime kings and queen of bossa who
captivated the clubs, caf 's and lounge rooms of
the world.
