Auf den ersten Blick ist Patrick Bateman ein stinknormaler, egomanischer Wall-Street-Yuppie, doch
hinter der Fassade des proper gewandeten Lebemannes verbirgt sich ein mrderischer Abgrund aus Hass
und Sadismus. Um die Leere seines einzig von Statussymbolen erhellten Daseins auszufllen, ist
Patrick auf den Serienmord gekommen, insbesondere junge Frauen, aber auch der eine oder andere
unvorsichtige Geschftspartner zhlen zu seinen Opfern. Als es ihm zunehmend schwerfllt, zwischen
Phantasie und Realitt zu unterscheiden, tritt die Polizei auf den Plan.

Nach gut zehn Jahren Wartefrist wagte sich Hollywood an den umstrittensten Serienkillerroman der
90er bzw. definitiven Literaturkommentar zur Reagan-ra, herausgekommen ist eine streckenweise hbsch
treffsichere Yuppiesatire mit Horrorbeiwerk.
