With applications, compliance settings, a variety of
configuration settings under control, and even the
deployment of wholesale desktops firmly within your grasp,
it's time you started looking beyond the local area network
and towards those other machines -- in the coffee shops and
airports of the world -- and how to extend the reach of
Configuration Manager out onto the Internet.

At the same
time, Windows alone isn't the only computing platform for
company data.  Also in use today are a variety of devices
that you might just want to start considering as objects
needing configuration control.

In this sixth course out of
seven, you'll explore the many different options
Configuration Manager now supports for extending its
influence beyond the brick-and-mortar.  These include the
Internet-based Client Management configuration, but also
other approaches that use Microsoft Azure to simplify the
implementation.  Next, you'll spend a few minutes with on-
premises Mobile Device Management, or MDM, and work through
its installation and use to see where it fits.  Lastly,
you'll implement a Cloud Management Gateway and Cloud
Distribution Points, to get a feel for one of the more
"modern" approaches to Windows and device management that
leans on Azure cloud services for its functionality.  By the
end of this course, you'll have the introduction you need to
determine if these or the full Microsoft Intune stack are
what makes sense for your requirements.
