NOTES:
We do NOT endorse the new x264 rules when it comes
to the internal part. We should/must be able to
experiment more than just with codec/CRF and AC3
audio. Of course we are talking about the fact
that rules don't allow vobsubs to be muxed into
the video file.
As it is now, the rules are made for highest
compatibility which is fine for "normal"/non-int
releases, but as most actual sceners have HTPCs
which are virtually compatible with everything
you throw at it (XBMC for example), we feel that
grandpa with just a TV that accepts USB for media
is NOT who we aim to release our releases for.
Internal releases should definitely have more
room to do what we want with them, as long as
they are not OOS or glitches or similar that
causes a TECHNICAL flaw and not just compatible
flaw.
And speaking of compatibility, the rules allow
AC3 audio for internals which is NOT compatible
with handhelds (unless jb & running XBMC maybe).
There will simply be no audio at ALL!
But the rules allow that for some reason for
some odd reason, something that will break
the release completely is allowed, but not
something that is semi-compatible. And no, we don't
care about your TV with USB sticks for watching
media, there are better ways of watching a movie,
pick up a Raspberry PI if you want an okay
mediacenter if you cannot afford a good one.
Let's say you have an iPad you want to watch
this release which has vobsubs muxed into the
video file, the only thing that will happen is
that you will not be able to see the subs, but
the video+audio will play just fine. This would
also be the case if you had a release with a
seperate "Subs" dir with vobsubs as the iPad
and other handhelds cannot play external vobsubs.
Now remember AC3 that will break compatibility
completely and think about what's worse here?
Subs not showing or no audio at all? We know what
we'd prefer, any day, any time.
