PLOT
In Season Two, East West 101 expands to seven episodes as the
Major Crime Squad investigate crime and murder in all quarters
of multicultural Sydney.
But overarching all, is the quest for Detective Zane Malik to
find the truth behind a car bomb attack which kills two men.
The Major Crime Squad form a joint task force with the NSO
(National Security Organisation) to deal with the crime. There
is paranoia in the city and fallout on the Muslim community.
Malik knows that in order to stop the circle of hate, he must
solve the crime. Was the bomb really an act of extremists, as
the media suggest, or a sophisticated killing by a career
criminal? Malik doggedly pursues the truth until he, too,
becomes a target.
Inspector Patricia Wright questions his motives but her vision
is clouded by personal issues she wants to remain hidden from
the squad. Crime has touched her own family.
EPISODE SUMMARY
Episode 2.04: Ice in the Veins
An ambulance officer is stabbed to death by a kid in an Ice
induced rage.
Detective Sonny Koa delivers the death knock, and bonds with
the dead man's Maori family. The victim's mother extracts a
promise from Koa that he is going to find hard to keep. She
wants her son back, in one piece, for burial.
Meanwhile the mystery surrounding the dead NSO agent deepens.
Malik learns he was involved with bringing in illegal refugees
from Indonesia. Did he use his role as an NSO officer to
facilitate their entry? But if so, why? This act is directly
against his brief. And if he was corrupt, what did he do with
the money?
Agent Skerritt helps Malik in his quest for the truth. But it
appears Skerritt has more than truth on his mind. He and
Wright have become lovers. And her problem brother has become
his problem too. Craig has disappeared and Wright fears for
his life. He's out on the streets somewhere. They have to
find him before the gangsters do. Will her father, Mick
Deakin, a legendary retired detective, help her? And if he
does, can she contain him?
As Malik and Koa investigate the murder of the ambulance
officer, they discover behind the senseless killing, a story
of the drug, Ice. The Ice is manufactured and supplied by a
bikie gang. The detectives learn the gang has an Indonesian
contact who supplies them with chemicals. The stolen arms used
in the car bomb are linked back to both the gang and the
contact and he is linked to Akmal.
Akmal is still protesting his innocence over the car bomb.
And Malik is starting to believe him. But is he telling the
truth?
