He  is  known  as  The Baron.  Tall,  handsome  &  debonair, John
Mannering is  a man  who knows  the world  & thrives on adventure
through  his  business  as  an  exclusive  international  art and
antique  dealer. It's  a business  that stirs  greed, vanity  and
passions that propel  him into exciting,  danger-laden adventures
stemming from the  fabulous wares he  handles and the  people who
buy, sell or steal precious treasures.
As if that's not enough, The Baron is persuaded to assist British
Intelligence, aided by the glamorous Cordelia (Sue Lloyd) as they
risk their lives on espionage missions for the head of Diplomatic
Intelligence, John Alexander Templeton-Green (Colin Gordon).
Episode 20: The High Terrace

A  mysterious  suicide  leads  The Baron  onto  the  case  of the
disappearance  of  Phyllis  Thornton.  When  Mannering  begins to
question her estranged husband  he learns that she  was regularly
visiting a bizarre religious order.  With The Baron asking a  few
too  many  questions,  their  crooked  leader  orders  him  to be
eliminated.
