PLOT
The Irish R.M. was based on the stories by Somerville and Ross
and tells of the adventures of the monocled Major Sinclair
Yeates (played by Peter Bowles) as an English army officer who
resigns his commission and becomes the Resident Magistrate in
a rural Ireland village at the end of the nineteenth century.
He finds himself living in a ramshackle old manor house
surrounded by the colourful and eccentric inhabitants of the
district... Especially the Knox family, who seem to have a
finger in every pie.
EPISODE SUMMARY
Season 2, Ep 2: The Dispensary Doctor
On the eve of the annual local regatta, family rivalries are
aggravated when the Callaghans inform the police that the
Foleys are planning a salmon poaching trip. The Foleys wriggle
off the hook in Court, but trouble is brewing.
The Major learns he is the patron of the regatta. On his
journey to the event, he meets Flurrys friend Dr. Hickey, who
persuades the Major to help him raid the butchers shop. Of
course, Philippa and the Knoxes arrive as the men are breaking
and entering.
