PLOT
Jane and the Dragon is the tale of a unique friendship between a
fiery young girl and her fire-breathing dragon. Jane and the
Dragon is the first children's television series to be created by
multiple Oscar Award-winning Weta Productions (Lord of the Rings
Trilogy, King Kong, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe). Jane
and the Dragon, and is a co-production with multiple Emmy Award
-winning Nelvana (Tintin, Babar, Fairly Odd Parents).
As an only child, Jane was brought up in the Royal Court as a
medieval middle class girl and raised to be a lady-in-waiting. A
combination of determination and good fortune changed Jane's life
and made her dreams a reality, when the King transformed her from
lady-in-waiting to knight-in-training.
Jane lives in a medieval castle filled with eccentric and
endearing friends, including Dragon (a giant green dragon),
Jester (the court jester) Pepper (the castle cook), Rake (the
royal gardener), and Smithy (the blacksmith). Jane demonstrates
her bravery and kindness in a series of adventures set in feudal
times.
EPISODE SUMMARY
Season 1, Episode 1: Tests and Jests
Jane prepares for her knight-in-training 'rescue the damsel' test
coming up. It is a difficult challenge that she must pass in
order to carry on her apprenticeship as a knight. Passing the
test becomes even more important when Jane makes a pact with the
King to protect her friend, Pepper.
