The Prize of the Pole takes us on a personal journey which comments
on anthropology, colonialism and multiculturalism. It is a
documentary about three men battle with the opposing cultural ties
within them. The film first examines Robert E. Peary, who spent 23
years among the polar Eskimos and his relationship with Minik; the
sole survivor of six Eskimos, whom Peary put on exhibit in New York
in 1897. A great-grandchild of the arctic explorer, Robert E. Peary
II goes on an expedition into his ancestor's history, which takes
him from Greenland, to America. An amazing history unfolds which
changes Robert's view of himself and his Great Grandfather forever.
