PLOT
Nothing is what it seems behind the well-trimmed hedges of the
picturesque cottages in the idyllic English countryside of
Midsomer. Beneath the tranquil surface of sleepy village life,
there exist dark secrets, scandals and downright evil. Murder,
kidnap and blackmail are commonplace among the eccentric
inhabitants of Midsomer.
Midsomer Murders is a long running TV series of contemporary
murder mysteries, based on the award winning Inspector Barnaby
novels by mystery writer Caroline Graham, who the Sunday Times
describes as "the best detective writer since Agatha
Christie".
In each episode, the peacefulness of the Midsomer community is
shattered by violent crimes, suspects are placed under
suspicion, and it is up to Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby,
played by John Nettles, to calmly and diligently eliminate the
innocent and ruthlessly pursue the guilty.
EPISODE SUMMARY
Season 10, Episode 1: Dance with the Dead
DCI Tom Barnaby and DS Ben Jones investigate the death of
Simon Bright who is found dead inside an old World War II
vintage Humber parked at an abandoned airfield. From all
appearances, the death appears to be a suicide but the
pathologist determines that the man suffered a severe blow to
the dead and may in fact have been unconscious when he died of
carbon monoxide poisoning. Simon Bright's girlfriend, Laura
Sharp, is nowhere to be found but the death of the aging
village Lothario and the attempted murder of another of her
friends narrows the list of possible murderers somewhat.
Barnaby is convinced that one of Laura's ex-lovers is
responsible but given her rather active life, the question
becomes which one?
