This MEMETiC release is the nearly two hour long pilot
movie for DuckTales, which aired a week before the TV
series began. It has later been broken down into five
episodes and re-released in this form on TV and DVD. As
far as we know, the movie version of the pilot is only
available on LaserDisc, released in Japan.
When Donald Duck joins the Navy, he decides to send his
nephews, Hewey, Dewey and Louie, to live with his Uncle
Scrooge McDuck. However, while the old billionaire
agrees to take them in, he coldly wants them to stay
out of his way and business. That changes when the boys
discover a model ship that bears a map to a fabulous
treasure. That sparks Scrooge's interest as he
undertakes a hunt for that treasure and with his
nephews, his pilot and newly hired governess and
daughter, he discovers not only the treasure, but
something more valuable than that.
