WWE Championship: TLC Match
WWE Champion Edge Vs. John Cena
John Cena will get one more chance to unseat WWE Champion Edge
Cena's most hated rival on RAW at Unforgiven on Sept. 17. But,
the odds won't be in the challenger's favor in a match that the
Rated R Superstar has never lost, and one that Cena has never
been in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match. And to make matters
worse for the challenger, the match will take place in Edge's
hometown of Toronto.
It is no secret that the WWE Championship means everything to John
Cena. Since the gold was stolen away from him at ECW One Night
Stand, he's has had a one track mind: reclaim the Championship as
his own. At SummerSlam, when it looked as though Cena would finally
reclaim RAW's most coveted prize, Lita interfered and slipped the
Rated R Superstar a pair of brass knuckles that eventually led to
Cena's demise.
Edge thought that would be the final chapter in the Edge vs. Cena
story. He thought wrong. After Lita tossed Cena's Spinner
Championship into Long Island Sound on RAW, the Doctor of
Thuganomics attacked the Rated R Superstar and chased him out of
the arena.
After bouncing Edge off a bulletin board, into some bushes, he then
catapulted him off the pier into the murky, polluted waters. The
champion was left floundering in the water until he was rescued
by Harbor Patrol.
The following week, with Shane McMahon calling the shots on RAW,
Edge demanded that John Cena be fired. Cena came out holding a
piece of paper in his hand and said that he wasn't ready to go
just yet. The paper was a contract, straight from the desk of
SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long. Cena said that he would
leave RAW and go to SmackDown, but before he did that, he wanted
one more opportunity at Edge's WWE Championship. If Edge beat him
again, then Cena would leave RAW. Edge agreed, but only under two
conditions he would name where & what type of match it would be.
Later in the evening, while Cena was in a match with Chris Masters,
Edge revealed his conditions for the match. Just as Cena locked the
Masterpiece in the dreaded STFU, Edge appeared and slammed Cena
with a steel chair; then he retrieved a ladder from under the ring
and blasted Cena in his face. To finish him off, the Rated R
Superstar sent his arch nemesis crashing through a table. Just to
make sure he made himself clear, he explained that the match would
be a Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match, and it would be at
Unforgiven in his hometown of Toronto.
Edge is undefeated in TLC Matches in his career, & his experience
advantage is what he's counting on to pull him through the match.
Unfortunately for the champion, his challenger won't give up
without a fight. On RAW, when Edge was predicting how easily he'd
glide to victory at Unforgiven from atop a ladder, Cena burst into
the ring, knocked him off of the ladder, draped the Rated R
Superstar over his shoulder and delivered a thunderous FU through
a table. Then he piled a steel chair and a ladder on top of the
dazed champion. Cena proved to Edge that although he may not be as
experienced in a TLC Match, he's way ahead of the learning curve.
At Unforgiven, will Edge be able to add another TLC victory to his
resume and get Cena out of his life forever? Or will Cena emerge
victorious from his first-ever TLC Match and regain the gold that
means so much to him?
Hell in a Cell
D-Generation X Vs. The McMahons & Big Show
Did a deranged Mr. McMahon pronounce D-Generation X's death
sentence when he ordered Shawn Michaels and Triple H to compete
in a Hell in a Cell Match against himself, his son, Shane, and
ECW World Champion Big Show at Unforgiven?
HBK & The Game have been two thorns in the sides of the McMahons
since they reunited DX in June. Week in and week out, their
sophomoric antics have crawled under the skin of the Chairman and
his son. The McMahons thought they had the perfect plan in place
to take out DX at SummerSlam, but somehow, Shawn Michaels and
Triple H were able to fight off the McMahons' unlimited resources
to emerge victorious.
Then, on the Aug 21 edition of RAW, it looked as though DX finally
made the Chairman crack. DX mentioned how many great men in history
have left their marks. Columbus left his mark when he came to
America, Neil Armstrong left his mark on the moon, and so DX
followed in their footsteps and left their mark as well. First,
HBK and The Game revealed they had defaced Mr. McMahon's private
jet with the DX logo. Later in the evening, they also made known
that they had plastered their logo on WWE headquarters in Stamford
Conn. After seeing the site of his headquarters defiled with DX
green, Mr. McMahon looked like he was on the verge of tears. But
DX wasn't finished sticking it to their boss.
The McMahons were ready to call it quits and leave the arena. But
before their limousine could get more than a few feet away, the
entire rear axle was ripped off. After they got out of the limo to
see what was wrong, they noticed the DX logo on the limo as well.
Mr. McMahon snapped as RAW went off the air.
He got his revenge the following week on RAW. He was supposed to
take the night off and enjoy the nightlife of Atlantic City, N.J.
until two roosters showed up in his hotel room. The crow seemed to
send the Chairman into a trance.
While DX was ordered to face three hired guns from SmackDown in a
Handicap Match U.S. Champion Sir Finlay, Sir Regal and Mr.
Kennedy, they were able to overcome the numbers advantage for the
win but their night was far from over. ECW World Champion Big Show
stormed the ring and began to dismantle both Triple H and Michaels.
Big Show's attack was followed up by Mr. McMahon himself, yielding
a lead pipe. The Chairman used it to blast The Game and HBK. He
left DX in the ring covered in blood and badly beaten. But it may
have been a bad move.
The following week on RAW, Triple H and Shawn Michaels appeared
with two words for the McMahons and ECW World Champion Big Show:
Thank you.
It's been a long time since someone has made us taste our own
blood... thank you for reminding us just who the hell we are,
snarled Triple H.
Then DX charged the ring, where they sent the McMahons & Big Show
fleeing as they used the sledgehammer and chair to tear through a
dozen members of the McMahons' private security force.
WWE fans have not seen that type of aggression from DX in a long,
long time. Have the McMahons made a huge mistake and awoken a
sleeping giant? Or do they have HBK and the King of Kings right
where they want them?
WWE Women's Championship
Women's Champion Lita Vs. Trish Stratus
Since their first encounter back in 2000, Trish Stratus and Lita
have had a love-hate relationship. They've been friends and they've
been enemies, but there has been an undeniable (and at times very
heated) rivalry between the two Divas for nearly seven years.
On Sept. 17, Unforgiven will mark the final chapter of the story;
Trish is retiring following Unforgiven, and in her hometown of
Toronto, she will meet Lita for the Women's Championship in her
final match.
Lita and Trish have warred over the Women's Championship before;
in December 2004, Lita defeated Trish on RAW to win her second of
three Women's Championships. One month later at New Year's
Revolution 2005, Trish won her sixth (and so far, last) Women's
Championship in the rematch when Lita tore her ACL during the bout.
That was their last one-on-one encounter, and in fact, Trish and
Lita had very little contact with one another after Lita aligned
herself with Edge later that summer that is, until Lita dropped a
bombshell on WWE.com.
Prior to RAW on August 21, Lita gave WWE.com the breaking news
that Trish was set to retire following Unforgiven. Lita had
overheard a conversation Trish was having with her parents about
it, and decided to help Trish break the news. Carlito confronted
Trish about this later in the night, and the six-time Women's
Champion was upset but not surprised that Lita had done this.
The following week, Trish tried to explain the decision to her
fans, but Lita once again interrupted. Trish was happy to see her,
however, calling her out for one final battle. Lita accepted,
making the match for Unforgiven; but later in the night, Lita
pinned Trish in a Six-Person Intergender Tag Team Match after
Randy Orton gave Trish an RKO.
Trish Stratus is a six-time Women's Champion. Can she make it
lucky number seven on her final night as a WWE Superstar, or will
Lita send the hometown hero out on the losing end?
Intercontinental Championship
Champion: Johnny Nitro Vs. Jeff Hardy
At Unforgiven, Jeff Hardy will have a second chance to unseat
Johnny Nitro for the Intercontinental Championship.
In just his second week back in RAW, Hardy defeated Randy Orton to
become No. 1 Contender to the gold. But when he took on Nitro on
September 4, only Melina's good timing kept the gold around the
current champion's waist.
Late in the bout, Hardy had nailed Nitro with the Twist of Fate.
He covered for the pinfall, but as the referee counted to three,
Melina climbed into the ring and jumped on the referee. Nitro was
immediately disqualified, but while Hardy won the match, it was
Nitro who walked out of Atlanta with the gold.
Later in the night, the rematch was announced for Unforgiven. Will
Hardy make good on his second chance, or will lady luck once again
shine on the A-List Champion? Find out at Unforgiven.
Carlito Vs. Randy Orton
At Unforgiven, a rivalry that has been brewing in recent weeks
will come to a head when Carlito takes on Randy Orton.
A few weeks ago, an innocent meeting in the locker room area
started the whole issue between the two. Carlito commented on
Orton's loss to Hulk Hogan at SummerSlam, and when Orton later
continued to attack Ric Flair after their match, the Caribbean
Superstar rushed out to the ring, sending Orton fleeing to the
locker room.
On the Aug. 28 RAW in Atlantic City, the Legend Killer ambushed
Carlito as after he had shared a kiss with Trish Stratus. Orton
left both laying, but the Caribbean Superstar would soon get his
revenge; Carlito spit a mouthful of apple into Orton's face during
his match with Jeff Hardy, costing the Legend Killer the chance to
become No. 1 Contender to the Intercontinental Championship.
The following week, Carlito teamed with John Cena & Trish Stratus
to face Randy Orton, Edge and Lita in a Six-Person Intergender Tag
Team Match. With Trish and Lita left in the ring, Orton snuck
back in & dropped Trish with a RKO, allowing Lita to get the pin.
Carlito tried to help, but he was held outside the ring by Edge as
Orton surveyed his damage.
Now, these two will settle their differences one-on-one at
Unforgiven. Will the Legend Killer prevail or will it be a cool
trip to Toronto for Carlito?
