Wilfredo Vazquez Jnr has fighting blood pumping through his veins. His
pedigree is impeccable, being the son of former three time world
champion, Wilfredo Vazquez.
His rise to the top has been both dramatic, and devastating. In February
this year he won what will probably become the first of many world
titles, the WBO version of the Super Bantamweight crown. He is exciting
and dynamic and testament to his power is the fact that16 of his 19
opponents have failed to hear the final bell.
His last defence, which was shown exclusively on Ringside, saw the
Puerto Rican dismantle previously undefeated Zsolt Bedak in ten
enthralling rounds.
Now set for the second defence of the WBO Crown, Vazquez takes on "rough
and ready" Mexican Ivan Hernandez.
In 2004 Hernandez briefly held the WBO Super Bantamweight crown when he
stopped the highly regarded Mark Johnson. Since then he's had mixed
fortunes but knows this fight against pocket dynamo Vazquez represents
an opportunity to get his career back on track.
This will be a vicious encounter, where punches will fly non-stop, as
two proud warriors slug it out in a battle of wills!
