PLOT
Series 2 of Packed to the Rafters follows Julie and Dave
Rafter (Rebecca Gibney and Erik Thomson) through comic highs
and soul-searching lows as they prepare for the unplanned but
no-less welcome addition to their family of their new baby. We
also explore the heart warming arrival into the Rafters world
of Dave's birth-mother Chel, opening in the process the door
to further family revelations.
We follow the tumultuous upheavals in the lives of all
three Rafter children. Rachel (Jessica Marais) embarks on a
promising if-at-first feisty relationship with the cute
young electrician who's begun working with her dad. Ben
(Hugh Sheridan) continues his determined pursuit of
housemate Melissa's hand in marriage. And Nathan (Angus
McLaren), in seeking new career challenges in the music
business, struggles to resist strong temptations that may
well signal the end of his young marriage.
EPISODE SUMMARY
Episode 2.02 Dodging the Issue
Julie is convinced that Warney is ripping off Dave's business.
But Dave is positive his mate is doing no such thing and his
loyalty to Warney is strengthened when he discovers they
shared similar childhoods. Meanwhile, Nathan's easy working
relationship with his father is tested when he is offered a
job by a real estate agent he once interviewed with. Dave
knows he should be thrilled for his son but he can't help
feeling betrayed and abandoned. Ben and Melissa are
tentatively dating, but the arrival of a handsome new doctor
Luke Hanson sets Ben on a destructively jealous path. Dave's
feelings of abandonment forces him to face up to his
childhood. Deserted by his parents and adopted out at a young
age, Julie suggests to Dave it's time he discovers the truth
about his past. But is he ready to find out?
