Plot: The songs recorded by Uku Kuut are known more than we can imagine.
To understand his international phenomenon is to understand the ability
of various niches, sub-genres and hidden musical inspirations to not only
exist today, but to thrive independently of the mainstream. The life of
Uku, the son of Maryn E. Coote (former Marju Kuut), took him from the
Soviet Union to exile in Sweden, from there to music studios in Los
Angeles, then back to the newly independent Estonia, and later, fighting
with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), to speakers all over the world.
A compelling portrait of the late musician and his contemporaries, shot
on 8mm film, VHS and BETA tapes.
