Following the rules for HDTV sources when working with HD/BD
sources would result in a bitstarved mess for most TV shows.
550MB or 700MB simply isn't enough. After testing, we found
that 1100 gave a relatively healthy result (for the technical
minded; I QP - 17.65, P QP - 19.74, B QP - 21.34).
