Summary
16 average Americans are marooned on the deserted island of
Puala Tiga in the South China Sea for 39 days, where they
must survive not only the island, but each other, as every
three days, one person is voted off. The 16 are split in to
two tribes of 8. Tagi consists of Dirk, Kelly, Richard,
Rudy, Sean, Sonja, Stacey and Susan. Pagong consists of BB,
Colleen, Gervase, Greg, Gretchen, Jenna, Joel and Ramoana.
In the first 3 days, the tribes get to know each other, and
while BB's domineering attitude annoys some of his
tribemates, Richard also begins to get on the nerves of the
Tagi camp as he attempts to lead them in a group direction.
When Pagong won the first Immunity Challenge (a
competition), Tagi had to go to Tribal Council, where they
must vote someone off of the island. Despite Stacey's
attempts to form a female alliance against 72-year-old Rudy,
it was Sonja Christopher who was voted off of the island
with 4 of the 8 votes. The tribe has spoken.

Release Notes
Encoded with XviD 1.0 RC4, but will play fine with ffdshow
(which you should upgrade now, anyway).
PROPER NOTES: Sigh. Here we go again. REACTiON is correct
that "reality shows are not ivtc'ed," but they don't appear
to have followed their own advice. Instead, they have
performed what amounts to half of an IVTC while keeping the
framerate at 30 fps. The result is a lot of duplicate frames
that are improperly matched (since the source wasn't
telecined to begin with), and therefore extremely jerky
playback on any significant motion. Furthermore, REACTiON
seems to have used this weird pseudo-IVTC as a substitute
for deinterlacing. It catches the combing on big movements,
but check any small-to-medium hand movement, lip movement,
or the like and you'll find nasty combing artifacts.
Finally, REACTiON seems to have hardcoded I-frames every ten
seconds, rather than allowing XviD to place them
intelligently at scene changes. This not only violates
TDX standards, but also makes absolutely no sense.
OTHER NOTES: For the second week in a row, the REACTiON
releases are poorly cropped. Also for the second week in
a row, they don't appear to have considered the impact
of an excessively high audio bitrate on video quality.
The result is that most of their frames are in quants 9
and 10, compared with an average quant of 4.0-5.0 in our
encodes. This represents a huge difference in overall
video quality.
So there you have it. Draw whatever conclusions you want.
