PLOT
Set during the 1960s in the fictional North Yorkshire village
of Aidensfield, this enduringly popular series, interweaves
crime and medical story lines, with a host of colourful
characters that viewers took to their hearts, and a
wonderfully nostalgic soundtrack.
This first series sees Nick and his doctor wife Kate settling
in Aidensfield, having left the hustle of London behind. As
villagers' initial suspicion gives way to acceptance, the
couple become increasingly involved, both professionally and
personally, in the daily life of rural community.
EPISODE SUMMARY
Season 1, Episode 7: Face Value
A ban-the-bomb demonstration outside the nearby Fylingdales
radar station has been announced and sergeant Blaketon turn
down an offer of outside help believing it will only be a
small gathering. But matters are complicated by the visit of
the American ambassador to the area and the arrival of the
prominent activist Paul Melthorn. Melthorn is assaulted at the
protesters' camp site on lord Ashfordly's field - courtesy of
Claude Greengrass - by troublemakers working at Fylingdales.
