Laura decides that becoming a teacher will convince everyone of
her maturity, but first she must pass the graduation exam. Nellie
agrees to help, but after Laura deliberately ruined her dinner
with Almanzo in the previous episode, Nellie has plotted her own
devious revenge. Matters are further complicated when, after all
her tireless efforts, a hurt and angry Laura realizes that she is
still a little girl to Charles and Almanzo. With a little help
from Caroline, Laura recognizes the reasons behind Charles'
overprotective nature, and father and daughter reconcile their
differences. By the episode's end, viewers realize that even
though she has only recently met him, Laura's feelings for
Almanzo extend well beyond a childish crush.
