PLOT

Crossed Connections

When the telephone arrives in Walnut Grove, everyone in town is
enthralled with this brand-new communication device. However,
contemporary viewers of this episode may have a hard time
recalling the days where switchboard operators stood in the way
of true privacy during telephone conversations. The job goes
straight to Mrs. Oleson, she has the opportunity to engage in one
of her favorite pasttimes--gathering rumors and spreading gossip.
When Alice Garvey--who apparently was married for a 3-week period
before meeting Jonathan--becomes Mrs. Oleson's latest target of
scrutiny, the unleashed secret threatens to destroy the Garveys'
happy life together. To take some time away, Jonathan goes on a
business trip with Charles, does some soul-searching, and meets
somebody who just might help him make amends with his wife.
