PLOT

May We Make Them Proud

When the Walnut Grove community pitches in to help organize a
picnic at the blind school, everyone is excited for the additions
that will be soon built onto the school. During the picnic,
Albert and a friend foolishly smoke in the school's basement and
carelessly dispose of the pipe--a grave mistake that causes a
fire later that night. Alice Garvey and Adam Jr. are both killed
in the blaze, which creates unprecedented trauma for everyone.
While Mary slips into a deep shock, Jonathan blames God and turns
to alcohol, thereby alienating his anguished young son.
Meanwhile, Albert's suffers greatly with guilt, but he cannot
bring himself to unveil his emotions to anyone. As all three of
them gradually come to grips with their troubles, Adam receives
an incredible surprise from his previously distant father--and
with everybody present, a heartfelt gesture is made to honor the
two who lost their lives.
