While out on a routine patrol, Goldman captures a VC and a bunch of weapons.
They find a ghost town -- everyone is gone but there are obvious signs of
recent activity. The VC throws himself on a booby trap -- killing himself.
Goldman talks to Major Darling once back on the base about the weird events
but Darling gives the unit some time off... thinking that they have been
working too hard and are imagining things. Anderson uses the time off to go to
the personnel office to find out why his ex-wife hasn't received a check in 3
months and meets Ben Sweet. Sweet wants to get into the fighting and agrees to
help Zeke if Zeke will "get him into the war". Taylor is developing a romance
with Lt. Patterson -- a woman there to investigate fraud and people stealing
from the Army. The men she has been investigating catch her and Taylor in bed
(against the rules -- she's an officer/he's enlisted) and blackmail her.
Alex's relationship with McKay starts to heat up. The next day, Anderson and
Goldman get trapped in the bush and cut off, they have to call in artillery on
their position to have any hope of survival.
