EPISODE SUMMARY
Season 5, Episode 1: Ruby Tates
The venue for the season premiere is Ruby Tates in Brighton,
owned and run by ex-actor Allan Love. Situated in a trendy area
near the beach, it's an oyster bar and seafood restaurant, but
Allan's never tasted the food because he hates fish. In fact, he
won't even poke his head into his own kitchen, where his two
chefs turn out a lackluster menu. Allan is so far in denial that
he's ruining any chance of success, and he throws Gordon out of
the restaurant even though he's losing $3,000 a week. With his
restaurant and home on the line, there's an urgent need to get
back to basics, galvanize the staff and produce great, simple
food. Can Gordon persuade them to shape up, or will an emotional
Allan bring down the curtain on Gordon's attempts to save his
business?
