PLOT
Ken Stott takes the reigns as Detective John Rebus in two new
instalments of this brilliant drama series, adapted from the
novels of best selling crime writer Ian Rankin.
At the centre of each story is Detective Inspector Rebus, an
enigma, fighting his own weaknesses, while dealing with the
sad consequences of human frailty. He's seen it all before,
but his cynicism is redeemed by an unexpected humanity that
reveals he is more disillusioned with himself than others. As
he scours the streets looking for answers, Rebus is actually
seeking the truth about himself.
EPISODE SUMMARY
Season 2, Episode 1: The Falls
Rebus investigates the murder of Dr. Devlin, an aging
obstetrician and former owner of a private maternity hospital,
who appears to have been bled to death with no apparent
motive. Mysteriously, a small coffin is found at the murder
site containing an effigy of a smiling baby. The trail leads
Rebus into the wealthy and powerful circles of Edinburgh
society where his inquiries are coolly dismissed. Further
deaths with hidden links to Dr. Devlin, lead Rebus to re
-investigate an apparent suicide that happened 20 years
before. Guilt, forgotten secrets, religious mania and incest
play out in one of Rebus' toughest challenges yet.
