EPiSODE SUMMARY
Jamie Oliver's in New York but, ignoring the city's
fancy restaurants and junk food stalls, he goes in
search of the "taste of home" style of immigrant
cooking. A few miles from the Empire State Building he
finds Egyptian, Peruvian, Colombian and Chinese
communities making food he's never seen or tasted
before. There's also a slaughterhouse where they
butcher your chosen animal while you wait, an illegal
cafe run from a family's front room and an underground
supper club (where you pay a donation to the host for
the meal). But what brings a tear to his eye quicker
than when he eats some intensely spicy noodles is when
he meets George. A former illegal immigrant turned
school bus driver, George goes out on the streets every
night to feed 70 or so homeless people absolutely free
of charge.
