EPiSODE SUMMARY

If Joanna Lumley gets any breathier, she'll be
inaudible. Tonight she purrs her way through the second
instalment of her paean to all things feline. Boy, does
this lady love cats - she even refers to one
particularly revolting specimen, a horrible, furless
thing, as "this little person". Mind you, it's not the
horrible, furless thing's fault he's so dashed
unprepossessing; the poor beast was bred that way.
Lumley is far too ladylike to tear at the throat of the
smug female breeder, but you feel that she'd jolly well
like to.
There are other eye-opening moments, including a visit
to a five-star American hotel devoted entirely to cats
and run by a woman rejoicing in the name of Divinity
Libby. It's a hellishly decadent place that contrasts
starkly with the shoestring operation run by former
Hitchcock blonde Tippi Hedren in the Californian hills.
Since retiring from films Hedren has made rescuing
unwanted big cats her life's work. These pitiful
creatures are rejected by owners who don't seem to
realise that they don't stay cute cubs for long.
