The Decline of Western Civilization is a 1981
rockumentary film directed by Penelope Spheeris
about the Los Angeles punk rock scene in 1979
and 1980. Over the year the film has gained
something of a cult status.
Featuring concert footage of legendary Los
Angeles punk bands, and interviews with band
members and with the punk who made up their
audience, the film offers a look into a sub-
culture that was largely ignored by the rock
music press of the time.

Mysteriously enough we found some unlabeled rip
of this floating around the interwebs that seemed
to have clearly come from the laserdisc. We have not
been so lucky as to actually source the rare and
expensive laserdisc and we only do our own rips so
we settled for our well worn retail vhs copy. On
closer inspection of the laserdisc rip and our vhs
rip we noticed it was actually missing 10 very
important minutes of the movie. Removing one of the
most interesting voices in the entire film. While
somewhat inferior in quality, and until we get our
hands on the real laserdisc (boo bootleg sellers),
we consider this the only full rip of this very
awesome film available. Enjoy
PS. this is supposed to be coming to dvd but dont
hold your breath.
